Period underwear questions
What is period underwear?
Underwear with a built-in absorbent layer that takes care of period blood, discharge or urinary leaks. It looks and feels like regular underwear, and you wash it and wear it again.
Can I use period underwear for urinary leaks?
Yes. Light is made for light leaks and discharge and replaces panty liners. For bigger leaks, Medio or Heavy is the better fit.
Which level do I need?
Light for urinary leaks, discharge and your lightest days. Medio for light to moderate periods. Heavy for heavy periods and overnight. Many people have one of each.
How long can I wear it?
It depends on how much you bleed or leak. Change when it starts to feel damp. On your heaviest days you can combine Heavy with a menstrual cup.
How do I wash period underwear?
Rinse in cold water until the water runs clear, then machine wash. Don't use fabric softener – it clogs the absorbent layer.
Why is there no nanosilver in Flove underwear?
Many brands use nanosilver in period underwear to prevent odour, but how it affects the body and the environment is debated. We've chosen to leave it out.
What size should I choose?
Choose the same size as your regular underwear. Check the size guide if you're between two sizes.
How many pairs of period underwear do I need?
Many people get by with three: one on, one in the wash and one ready. The 3-pack gives you exactly that – cheaper than three single pairs.
What's the difference between period underwear and pads?
A pad is single-use and sits on top of your underwear. In period underwear the absorbent layer is sewn in, so it stays in place – and you wash it and wear it again.
